When I had a baby with me, and other babies with me in the cradle would work 12 hour shifts cleaning floors and tear off wallpaper. Ha! The whole thing started to seem logical, however it was far from completed. The home would require lots of time and a love for shopping. In order to keep my budget sound, I travelled with my 3 boys looking for bargains in estate sales. We would go from the week of Thursday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing old and brand new furniture. In the end, I painted and sanded in the driveway throughout the week. My love for furniture repair began with a look similar to this. It didn't matter if our house had already been decorated. There was an area on the market where I sold objects. In the end, I was stuffed with too many pieces to store in the room available. My home was where I started hosting open houses where more than 1,000 people were able to come in to purchase anything they wanted from the first floor over the course of a weekend. This is where my business Growing Days was born. As my business flourished, so did our little family. It was essential to find the right balance for me. I wished to be both a mom and also a successful business owner. Growing Days was the obvious option. Nora joined us in 2013 as our 4th baby. I loved where my business was taking me, but I felt like I needed to take a breather. I decided to slow down to spend time in my home with my kids. That was exactly what I needed at the moment. After a couple of months, my phone started to ring. There were calls from people asking me for help with the interior design and renovations of their home. Many of the people calling me were from those who visited my home at one of my furniture open house events. While I was working, I added customers to my client list each day. However, it didn't take that long before I was managing many clients and operated an extremely successful business of home renovation. You would probably have made me laugh if I had told you that it would be the foundation of the DIY Network tv series. When I look back, it makes me laugh.
